Governor Hickenlooper Announces Plan to Adopt Advanced Clean Car Standards in Colorado

Governor Hickenlooper yesterday issued an Executive Order directing the Colorado Department of Health and Environment to adopt advanced clear standards, ensuring that Colorado will continue moving forward even as the Environmental Protection Agency weakens federal emissions standards.

CC4CA has been encouraging the governor to adopt the so-called “Low Emission Vehicle” and “Zero Emission Vehicle” standards (know as LEV and ZEV), including in an April letter signed by 59 elected officials around the state. The coalition hailed the move as an important step forward for protecting our state’s air quality, reining in carbon pollution, and saving money for Colorado families and businesses.

CC4CA President (and Westminster City Councilor) Anita Seitz spoke at a press conference yesterday announcing the decision.
